Shunkoin's meditation classes available again after summer break

September 16 , 2015

After a one month summer break, Shunkoin Temple's deputy head priest, Rev. Takafumi Kawakami, again offers meditation classes for visitors from abroad, a perfect opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere of a Buddhist temple. Classes are about 90 minutes long and include a tour of the temple and its gardens, as well as complimentary Matcha green tea and sweets. Classes without the tour are also available. Rev. Kawakami teaches about the basics of Zen meditation and how to integrate it into everyday life, while answering all questions from the participants. Guests can chose to sit on a cushion on tatami mats or on a small chair.
Meditation sessions are held on multiple days every week and start at 9 am. No reservation is necessary except for groups of ten people or more. The fee for the meditation class and tour is 2,500 Yen per person.
