Japanese Restaurant Reservation Service in Kyoto

“Washoku: Traditonal Dietary Cultures of the Japanese” was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2013. The best places to experience washoku culture are Ryotei and Kappo. The number of reservations they can accept per day is limited and reservations are required.

Kansai Tourist Information Center (KTIC) Kyoto has begun a reservation and payment service for upscale Kyoto ryotei and kappo restaurants. This service is available in English and Chinese. From their guidebook, choose from the list of distinguished ryotei and kappo restaurants, which includes Michelin star-rated locations. Instructions for using the service and guidebook distribution locations are provided below.
Using the service
1. Select a restaurant and menu items from the guidebook
2. Visit KTIC Kyoto or telephone the call center and request a reservation (in English or Chinese)
3. The KTIC Kyoto or call center staff member will contact the restaurant
4. Once the reservation has been confirmed, make payment at KTIC Kyoto (in cash or by credit card)
5. Receive your reservation confirmation after payment at KTIC Kyoto
6. Go to your selected restaurant and present your reservation confirmation. (You can pay for beverages and additional food items at the restaurant.)
